Passivation

The process of machining and laser marking stainless steel parts can reduce the parts passive layer that prevents corrosion.  Passivation is used to remove free iron or iron oxide from the surface of stainless steel materials without removing chromium and nickel to restore the passive layer and therefore the corrosion resistant property of the material.
