Beam Delivery

Beam delivery generally refers to the hardware components (mirrors, shutters, collimators, fibers, focus heads) used to deliver a laser beam from the laser source to the workpiece.

Industrial laser beams can  be delivered by either reflective optics or a fiber. The delivery method depends on the type and power of the laser being used.  CO2 lasers generally require a series of reflective optics, while many solid-state lasers – including nd:YAG and fiber – often use fiber optics to deliver the beam to the focusing head.

Selection of these components is most often determined by and optimized for the particular application (laser marking, laser welding, laser cutting, laser drilling, etc.).
