The fine control featured in AMADA WELD TECH’s resistance and laser welding technologies is well suited to electronic component manufacturing applications requiring precision, low heat input, and low (or no) force welding solutions.

The high speed, non-contact clean laser marking or laser engraving process is well suited to high quality direct part marking on ever decreasing component sizes.

Common applications include hard drive read/write armatures, hard disk assemblies, electrical connectors, lead frame assemblies, relay terminal connections, batteries, and more.

Printed Circuit Boards

A printed circuit board (PCB) supports and connects electronic components using conductive tracks, pads and other features etched from layers of copper laminated onto and in-between layers of a non-conductive substrate. Electronic components including LCD are soldered directly onto or connected to the PCB to electrically connect and mechanically fasten them to it.

Semiconductors

Semiconductor devices are made up of small crystals of silicon semiconductor designed to carry out a number of electronic functions in an integrated circuit. The semiconductor industry manufactures a variety of integrated circuits (IC’s) with varying packaging requirements. The packaging, typically made of metal or ceramic, is designed to protect the semiconductor from damage and contamination. Typical packaging styles include TO packages, butterfly packages, 16 lead flat packs and 8 pin DIPs.

Sensors

A sensor is “any device that receives a signal or stimulus (heat or pressure or light or motion etc.) and responds to it in a distinctive manner.” From disk brakes to disk drives, industry today relies on sensors in both products and factories. New sensor technologies mean new product capabilities with improved performance and efficiency.

Terminal Welding

A terminal is the point at which a conductor from an electrical component comes to an end, providing a point of connection to external circuits. It may simply be the end of a wire or group of wires, or it may be compacted or capped with a connector or fastener.
