Automotive Industry Brochure

Automotive applications require across-the-board joining technology from resistance to laser welding, and laser marking and engraving. AMADA WELD TECH’s best in class products provide process stability with power feedback and monitoring options, as well as industrially proven reliability.

Part tracking and traceability has become a reality of modern manufacturing. AMADA WELD TECH offers a range of laser marking and engraving products for direct part marking with text, graphics, bar codes and data matrix codes.

Our laser welding, laser marking and engraving, resistance welding, and hot bar reflow soldering technologies are used in a wide variety of automotive applications including sensors, switches, dashboard electronics, lighting components, and brake shoes.

Airbags

Automotive airbags are packed in stainless steel cylinders filled with highly compressed gas in the center of the steering wheel, dashboard, and other places to cushion driver and passengers, reducing and preventing injuries during an accident.

Brake Assemblies

Automobile braking systems have disc brakes, drum brakes, or a combination of both. A conventional disc brake system is composed of the brake disc or rotor, the brake caliper, and brake pads. Modern cars feature antilock braking systems which utilize sensors to prevent wheels from locking up thus enabling drivers to maintain steering control.

Key components in any braking system include brake sensors, brake discs and brake shoes.

Motor Armatures

An armature is the power-producing component of an electric machine and can be on either the rotor (rotating part) or the stator (stationary part) of the machine. The armature carries the current, so it is always a conductor or a conductive coil, oriented normal to both the field and to the direction of motion, torque (rotating machine), or force (linear machine).

Armature wiring is made from copper or aluminum. Because of its higher electrical conductivity, copper wiring enhances electrical efficiencies; aluminum wiring, however, is lighter and less expensive.

Powertrain

The powertrain is comprised of the main components of an automobile that generate and deliver power.

Wire Assemblies

The organized set of wires, terminals and connectors that run throughout a vehicle and relay information and electric power thereby “connecting” a variety of components is called a wiring harness.
